Data and privacy
What Aurora stores, how to see, export and delete your data, and what servers keep for accountability.
This page is the documentation version of the privacy page.
Your data tools#
| Command | Who | What it does |
|---|---|---|
/data summary | You | Counts of what Aurora holds about you in this server. |
/data export | You | Your own records as a JSON file only you can see: the newest 1,000 rows per category, at most 6 MB, secrets redacted. |
/data delete | You | Deletes your own member data and anonymises server records you appear in. |
/data lookup | Administrators | Counts only, for a member. |
/data erase | Administrators | Erases a member's data on request. |
The dashboard offers the same tools for the signed-in member.
What is deleted, anonymised and kept#
Aurora classifies every table that holds member data:
Deleted: your leveling, economy, giveaway, reputation, AFK, game, reminder and similar records are removed.
Anonymised: records that belong to the server stay, and your id becomes "deleted": for example the author of a suggestion, the creator of a poll, or who scheduled a message.
Retained: server records kept for accountability: moderation cases, warnings, AutoMod strikes, security incidents, the audit log and support tickets. They are not removed by
/data delete. Ticket transcripts follow the server's retention settings.
An open game blocks deletion until it ends, because its stakes are held.
What is not stored#
Message text is not written to the database. It can appear in a log embed if the server enables the Message Content intent.
The dashboard does not store your Discord access token. A session stores your id, display name, avatar hash and server list for at most 7 days.
Retention#
Finished background jobs are kept for 7 days by default; Bot Control action records are removed by a 180-day maintenance pass; dashboard sessions last at most 7 days; transcripts follow the ticket settings.
